It Will All Come Together

I’ve recently been contemplating the challenges this uncertain economy has presented for our clients, our firm and our families.  At the same time, I’m also aware of the many blessings I’ve received in my life, both personally and at ConvergenceCoaching.  Jennifer Wilson, my partner, and I were musing about this last week and commenting on the unpredictable year we’ve had – with unexpected highs and lows and we were planning for 2010.  After our conversation, I realized we both had forgotten to verbalize our 2009 theme:  It will all come together!

And it will!  Because I’m certain many of you may be feeling – or have felt – the same mixed feelings about 2009 and the hope for a brighter 2010, I thought I’d share my thoughts about how it will all come together.  As we are nearing the last two months of the year (unbelievable, I know!), I’ve been reflecting about who do I need to be for my team, my clients, and my family and I’ve identified three things I’m committing to:

·         Keeping the faith - For me, this sometimes means turning it over to God just as Henry Ford said in his quote, “I believe God is managing affairs and that He doesn't need any advice from me. With God in charge, I believe everything will work out for the best in the end.”  Part of keeping the faith is taking an inventory of your blessings, as I recommended almost a year ago in my blog post, A Thankful Heart.  If you haven’t done so recently, I encourage you to do so.  You will be reminded of all that you have to be thankful for, which will give you hope for the future, too.  It really does all turn out.

·         Staying committed to the “right” things – whatever those things may be for each of us, we all know when we’re doing the right things for ourselves and our business and we can’t lose sight of them.  Sometimes it feels like we’re putting in the time, effort, and money and we can’t see the immediate payoff from our labor or investment.  But the harvest will come when we stay faithful and committed to what we are building and remember the difference that we make for our team, clients, families and community.

·         Being positive – It is critical to share your blessings with others and paint the vision of what is possible through the effort of your team.  It will be easier to remain faithful when you speak positively.  Those around you will become enrolled in what you see is possible when you speak it out loud, too.  Positivity is contagious.  What do you want people to catch from you?

You have echoed many of my thoughts over the past few weeks. I feel that I must remember what I have to be thankful for and take inventory of my priorities, investing my time in those things first. Thanks for the confirmation.
